Text Box: May 14, 2008
Dear Friends:

The news continues to report the unfolding tragedy in Myanmar (formerly known as Burma) as a result of Cyclone Nargis.  Walls of water as high 12 feet high pummeled the coast on May 2, 2008.  Currently the U.N. estimates that 100,000 people may already be dead and an estimated 1.5 million people are suffering in this growing humanitarian disaster.   One report is that 20% of the children are suffering from diarrhea due to a lack of sanitation and clean water.  WFR Relief is ready, willing and able to help some of these victims.  We can’t do it without your prayers and we must have your financial assistance.  Once again we ask you to join the WFR Relief team to provide them with hope -  and let them know that they are not forgotten.

While many relief organizations associated with various Western governments are having problems obtaining visas and getting their goods distributed, WFR Relief is working with brothers of Christ who are already in Myanmar.  Two of our old friends are now in Yangon, the capital of Myanmar/Burma, and their experience in relief work and in church planting in countries with restrictive governments makes them truly an answer to prayer.

They will consult with local Christians, then work to obtain food and other essential supplies with funds provided by your contributions through the WFR Relief.  The most difficult part of relief work is often from not having experienced workers “on the ground” and God has already provided for this need.

For more than 25 years this ministry has worked successfully with missionaries and church leaders in more than 50 countries around the world to deliver food, water, and other emergency aid to people experiencing both natural and man-made disasters.  We are confident that we will be able to provide aid to the needy in Myanmar that will save lives, reduce human suffering and result in churches being planted.  NOW is the time to tell the people of this country that God loves them and that His people care enough to send help in their time of need.

Will we use this opportunity to speak the name of Jesus to people who may never have another opportunity to hear the good news?

The White’s Ferry Road church of Christ Relief Ministry is asking for your contributions to help relieve the suffering caused by Cyclone Nargis.  We pledge to you that we will we use your contributions to help the people who are hungry, thirsty and in need of shelter - all in the name of our Lord.

                                                                                                A servant of Christ,
