Subject: Flood Relief

Mr. Yelton:

As you know, Cedar Rapids has been hit hard by the recent floods.  Around 4,000 thousand homes were damaged, many of them severely.  Several members of the Central Church of Christ have also suffered serious loss—some have lost their homes and all most of their belongings.  Some have lost their jobs, as their places of employment have closed.  The Central church has been able to help these families get back on their feet, but we are also trying to assist those in the flooded neighborhoods.

We have received supplies from Churches of Christ Disaster Relief, and a group of volunteers from the Churches of Christ Disaster Response Team.  This past week alone over 200 people have come to our building seeking assistance.  We have handed out literally tons of food, water, clothing, cleaning supplies, and Bibles.  75% of those who come to us also need help with their homes—cleaning, tearing down, and rebuilding.  Every day we send teams out to work on homes in the neighborhood.  All of this is to the glory of God.

Many of these families have lost everything.  As you can imagine, helping these people get re-established is an expensive endeavor.  We would greatly appreciate any help you could give us in raising funds, as the more money we raise the more families we will be able to help.  If you would like more information about our efforts to help people cope with this disaster, please contact us at (319) 362-1540.

In His service,

Dr. Terry Seufferlein
