Midwest Floods In early June severe thunderstorms struck the upper Midwest of the United States. Tornadoes, hail, severe lightning and rain led to major damage in much of the region. Flash flooding caused the evacuation of thousands of homes in low-lying areas, many of which had never been threatened before. Flooding is continuing as the crest moves south along the Mississippi, Missouri and other rivers of the area. We have contacted churches of Christ along the affected river areas. Some churches are making damage assessments in their communities and church membership. One small congregation in Iowa has already depleted its available funds to distribute food, cleaning supplies and other urgently needed items to flood victims. They, and other churches, have asked WFR Relief to help them continue their relief effort. (Please click here to contribute) Churches in the flood areas can provide a great service in coordinating work in their communities. Volunteers who can do hard work in hot, humid weather will be urgently needed to help older people, widows and the poor clean their homes and make them livable again. We will help volunteers work with local churches to bring Glory to God.
