2008 Disaster News
Burma/Myanmar
- May 11, 2008 - Bill McDonough has arrived in Myanmar to begin relief
work. Details soon.
Earlier
in 2008:
January 2008 saw political violence in
Kenya creating a humanitarian disaster.
At this writing tens of thousands are still out of their homes; Some
people were killed and then in April, thousands were still in displaced peoples camps. Jobs, businesses, and farms were lost creating a long term problem that will only be solved with political stability and time, the very thing that poor people do not have.
Add to these problems we are seeing the prices of basic foods, beans and rice,
more than double in price.
Christian leaders in
Kenya are ready to help their poor neighbors. If your heart breaks
when you see the poorest people hurting in disasters and if you want to see God
receive the glory when food, water, temporary shelter and other emergency
supplies are distributed through local churches, please consider working with
us.
Our ministry needs
your prayers and your
contributions
to empower
Christians who are near communities hurting from tornadoes, hurricanes, war,
earthquakes, drought, floods and other disasters.
For over twenty five years
the WFR (White's Ferry Road) church of Christ Relief Ministries has responded to
human needs during disasters. With your help and your appeals to God we
can make a difference.
Thanks so much,
Don Yelton
