Jeremiah 29:11
"I know the plans I have for you," says the Lord. "They are
plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope."
A natural disaster is the result of a
perilous event, occurring when human vulnerability and nature’s natural outburst
become entangled. Such physical events could be hurricanes, earthquakes,
landslides, flash flooding, tornados and etc. Natural disasters can cause much
devastation in a person’s life; the loss of homes, families, friends and their
way of living.
In 2005 there was an
18 per cent rise in disasters. There were 360 natural disasters last year
compared to 305 in 2004. The number of people affected by these types of
disasters continued to rise in 2005. In total 157 million people—seven million
more that in 2004—required immediate assistance, needed evacuation, were injured
or lost their livelihoods.* Additional threats such as global warming,
environmental degradation and rapid urbanization continue to make millions of
people more vulnerable to natural hazards every year.
There are many
associations that will help the survivors meet the physical requirements in the
form of food, water, clothing and shelter. In the past there has not been an
organization to restore the emotional, mental and spiritual health
to the survivors of a natural disaster.
Christians on Call
Network (COCnetwork) is in response to this ever growing need to reinstate the
emotional homeostasis. Our vision is to be ready to assist with all natural
disasters, rather it be tornadoes, earthquakes, floods our hurricanes. We would
like to invite you to become a part or out team of professionals.
