Are You Considering Counseling?
At times,
most of us feel overwhelmed
by life's challenges. There are
struggles
that can leave you emotionally and physically
drained. You've lost
your job. A loved one has died. The
loss of a marriage
has left you shocked and grieving.
Change can bring unimaginable pain. Loss can bring on sadness like you've never known
before. You begin to wonder if life will ever be normal
again.
Change can
be difficult for just about everyone. Coping with major life
changes such as
divorce,
death
of a loved one, or
loss of a job can be
especially traumatizing in the midst of major decisions that
often have to be made after these
tragedies occur.
Family and friends mean well and are usually caring
supporters, but often don't know what to say or do to help
you with the overwhelming feelings you are experiencing.
This is the
time when some people will seek counseling. If you are
wondering whether you may be one of those who could benefit
from the help of a counselor, you may want to look over this
list:
1. Do you spend much
time thinking and worrying about a certain issue or problem
and can't seem to get it off your mind?
2. Have you
experienced a sudden change in your weight either up or down
recently or in your appetite?
3. Are you having
trouble sleeping? Or are you sleeping more than usual?
4. Have you started
using drugs or alcohol to self-medicate?
5. Have you noticed
an increase in angry outbursts or a lack of patience in
situations?
6. At work and in
personal situations, have you felt less able to handle
normal stress without getting frustrated or irritated?
7. Do you feel an
overwhelming sadness or anxiety that doesn't seem to go away
when you engage in your normal, everyday routine?
If you see
yourself in any of these situations, you may benefit from
speaking to a counselor. Please call our office and speak to
one of our staff members and let us set up a time to talk
about how we may be of help to you or your family.
