History

     AMEN (American Military Evangelizing Nations) is a ministry dedicated to serving the needs of Christians in the military around the world.  Beginning  in 1976 as an outreach of the White’s Ferry Rd. church of Christ in West Monroe, Louisiana, AMEN continues as a focal point for many services to both the families left at home and those deployed overseas.  In 2009 the Hendersonville, NC church of Christ became the sponsoring church of the AMEN Ministry.

     Over the past 30 years, a network of AMEN Key Contact persons has been established in 400 congregations located near almost every major military installation and base in the world. By submitting an  AMEN “Locator” form, families and friends of military personnel  notify the AMEN office of their friend or loved one’s assignment and location. The Key Man in that area is then informed by email and that Key Man gets in touch with the person referred.  We encourage the receiving Key Man to inform AMEN of the response so we can provide feed-back to the originator.   Friendships established by these Christian fellowships encourage thousands of Christians in the military who are away from home and family.

     In addition to the initial contacts, AMEN has been able to minister to Christians in the military in many other ways by providing care packages, Bibles and other Christian literature, communion supplies, and most importantly, a family of local Christians to love and with whom they can study and pray. 

     We are in contact with brothers in Iraq, Afghanistan and other war areas.  Military people change locations often; Some staying for months, others only a few weeks.  Let us know and we will try to get him or her in contact with other Christians.  We will do our best to encourage them through the Locator Service, as well as to pray and email an encouraging note.

Send us the names of your military friends and family  who are deployed  by using the attached “Locator” form or by contacting the AMEN office by phone, mail, email or fax.   

Pray for this ministry daily.  Ask those you know who have a  special interest in the military to join with you in praying for our President and all our government leaders as well as the men and   women fighting the war against terrorism.

Support AMEN financially.  No gift is too small.  A onetime gift, monthly pledge, or cooperative fund raiser  will enable us to continue to meet the needs of our military friends and family as they protect all of us.
