Hello! Thanks for visiting the WFR website! White's Ferry Road church of Christ is very special to me. I have been a youth, a member, a student and now, a staff member for this church spanning over the last 28 years. There has always been an excitement here for God and a certain urgency for reaching the world with the Good News of Jesus Christ. Our a cappella singing, our biblical teaching and our world wide vision have been the enduring constant over the past 45 years. WFR is still as vibrant and dynamic as the day I came here as a young lad in the mid-70’s. One of the things that has always captivated my attention is the emphasis on the Gospel or Good News about Jesus. To last over time, there must be a consistent theme or message to always focus on and here at WFR, that message is the gospel. Paul said in 1 Corinthians 15 1 Now, brothers, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. 2 By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain. 3 For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance : that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, 5 and that he appeared to Peter, and then to the Twelve. 6 After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. 7 Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles, 8 and last of all he appeared to me [Paul]... At WFR, we teach that same gospel message today and that is where we take our stand. We believe that all of mankind has sinned (Rom. 3:23) and because of that sin, all men and women are doomed to separation from God. (Rom. 6:23) To make matters worse, mankind is also doomed to physical death and has no way of averting it. (Heb. 9:27) Thankfully, the gospel mentioned above in 1 Cor. 15, answers our sin problem and our death problem with the coming to earth of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. Jesus became flesh to help us in our inability to help ourselves. (Rom. 5:6-11) He died on a cross to pay the penalty of death for all of mankind (2 Cor. 5:21), and he was raised after three days to prove that the grave could be beaten! (1 Cor. 15:21) Christ ascended back to heaven where he now mediates at the right hand of the Father for all Christians (1 John. 2:1) and he says he is coming back to claim his own for an eternity in heaven with him! (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18) Now that is good news! I would love for you to come and be a part of our fellowship and find out more about the gospel and how to obey it and make a meaningful impact on the world around you. WFR has many ministries, some of which are described in the following pages. I encourage you to read about them, as well as a little of our history, and imagine how you might be blessed by them.
